Located near the southwestern border between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, Horsley Hills refers to a hill station that is the perfect amalgam of the charms of Andhra Pradesh and the beauty of the hills. It is thus often called, the Ooty of Andhra. This natural marvel is situated at an astonishing height of 4312 metres and is well-known for its breathtaking landscapes.

Also called as Yenugulla Mallamma Konda, this place is home to the largest Banyan tree and the oldest Eucalyptus Tree, it is lined with dense forest areas with 113 species of birds. The picturesque landscape of Horsley Konda also doubles up as a destination for adventure sports and activities such as trampoline, shooting, bow and arrow, wall climbing, water walking, rappelling, swimming pool, fish spa and a mini zoo.

Horsley Hills has quite a few beautiful sights to offer. In addition to its tranquil natural charms, it is also the land of Kalyani, the oldest known eucalyptus tree which is believed to be around 148 years. While you're at it, visit Thimmamma Marrimanu banyan tree which is said to be the world's largest banyan tree spread covering an area of 8 acres.

The highest point of the hills offers a mesmerising view of the surrounding foliage, and the sight is serene against the backdrop of the sapphire sky. Situated nearby is the Horsley Hills Environment Centre which is home to a number of animals such as deer and crocodiles. Gurramkonda Fort and Governor's house are other fascinating pieces of history should be a part of your weekend getaway here.

The title of the hills near the fort was hence dedicated to the selfless service of the horse, and the name Horsley Hills (Horsley Konda) came to be. Some others believed that it is named after a British General with the same name who built a bungalow here.

The hill station is centred around the Harita Hill Resort, which is a quaint stopover maintained by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC). Apart from this, other private resorts such as Holiday Home Castle Wind, Wind Fall Horsley Hill, Wild Wings and Horsley Hills Holiday Home Resorts are also available. Prior reservation needs to be done in the case of availing a government accommodation. You can take your chance with private hotels if going without reservation, but it is best to make the deal in advance, deciding on your package and requirements.

Horsley Hills Weather :

Horsely Hills, being a hill station in Andhra Pradesh, experiences quite a pleasant and cold weather throughout the year. However, the months between March to May are best avoided as temperatures may soar up to high as 30 Degrees Celsius. The landscape during this time of the year can get arid and dry. Monsoons, however, are quite pleasant and start around June and last until September.

The vegetation changes colours from the dull browns to refreshing and delightful greens, and the rainfall is also moderate to high. The winters, too, aren't too cold and present an excellent opportunity to witness and experience the chill of the hills!

Tips For Visiting Horsley Hills :

1. Take a packaged tour, as it will be more convenient for you to plan your journey and make the necessary arrangements.
2. Don't venture into the wild on your own.
3. There are no restaurants besides the ones in the resort. However, a couple of shops on the way sell ready to eat snacks so you can stock up on those.
4. Don't forget to carry walking shoes and some light woollens.
